My Wolrd Tuesday #7

Here is a familiar scene in Leominster which is known as the plastics city. These silo's are used to store resin's that are used in the plastic molding process. As a teenager I lived across the street from this company and worked there on Saturdays cleaning the molding machines. What I remember most though is being woken up early in the morning when tractor trailers were making a delivery of resin. They would use some type of vacuum system to pump the resin from the trailer to the top of the silo that could be heard quite a distance away.

I grew up around plastics manufacturing. It put food on our table. I am wondering what kind of plastics/products this is for. My guess is injection-molding, but I’m not familiar with processes other than the ones I knew.

I love industrial photographs. I’m a chemical engineer and just love stuff like this.
