  1. Now that’s an interesting thing to encounter in a park. I like how it looks, especially with those oversize wheels. The whole thing is made of metal?

    Yes the whole cannon is made of metal. This was used in the American Civil War 1861-1865. Carter Park was a military training ground for soldiers starting with the Indian Wars including those up to 1812.

    Today it contains memorials of past wars as well as a gazebo that is used for concerts in the summer. In the winter the city builds an ice skating rink that is open to the public.
